DE PROFUNDIS
Psalm 129-130
Choir alternates beginning on the superior’s side. We will do this at the first meeting.
Superior: Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord:
Superior choir: Lord, hear my voice.
Opposite choir: Let your ears be attentive/
to the voice of my supplication.
If you, O Lord, will mark iniquities,/
Lord, who shall stand it?
For with you there is merciful forgiveness;/
And by reason of your law I have waited
for you, O Lord.
My soul has relied on his word;/
my soul has hoped in the Lord.
From the morning watch even until night,/
let Israel hope in the Lord.
Because with the Lord there is mercy,/
and with him plentiful redemption.
And he shall redeem Israel/
from all its iniquities.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,/
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
From the gate of hell,
Deliver their souls, O Lord.
O Lord, hear my prayer.
And let my cry come unto you.
All: Let us pray./ O God, the Creator and Redeemer
of all the faithful,/ give to the souls of your servants
and handmaids the remission of all sins,/ that through pious supplication/
they may obtain the pardon they have ever wished for./
Who lives and reigns with God the Father/ in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Superior: May they rest in peace.
All: Amen.
